Replace Yourself With AI and I'll Pay You Full Salary for Two Years, on a Beach

Kill Boring Dead is offering its entire team a standing deal: prove AI can genuinely replace your role and the agency will pay your full salary for two years, doing nothing at all, preferably from a beach.

Melbourne. September 6, 2026: Most agencies tell staff not to worry, AI won't take your job. Kill Boring Dead (KBD) is doing the opposite. It's telling its team: if you can make AI take your job, KBD will pay you not to work for two years.

The social-first creative agency has issued an open, uncapped offer to every person on its team. Anyone who can genuinely automate their own role out of existence using AI keeps their full salary, paid for two years, to do nothing at all. Preferably from a beach.

There's a very specific problem this is aimed at. The best ideas about where AI can strip out admin, repetition and busywork live inside the heads of the people doing that work, and those people have every reason not to say so out loud.

KBD wants every one of those ideas on the table. Not just the safe ones.

Marcus Willis, CEO & Co-Founder, Kill Boring Dead, said the offer was designed to remove the one thing stopping people from bringing their best thinking forward.

"We're already one of the most AI-savvy agencies in the world, and it's still not enough, because the ideas that matter most live with the people doing the actual work, and they've got every reason to keep those ideas to themselves. So we removed the reason. If AI can genuinely do your job, I want to know today, not in six months once someone else has worked it out. And if it happens by accident, that's not a redundancy. That's one of the most valuable skills in the building, and it's worth two years' salary on its own."

"I want our creatives spending ninety percent of their time being creative. Not hunting through Google Drive, not fighting timesheets, not guessing what the client actually thinks. If someone builds the thing that fixes that and hands themselves two years off in the process, on a beach, genuinely, please take me up on it."

Willis said taking fear out of the process was already how the agency operated, and the AI offer was simply the same idea applied one level deeper.

"Taking fear out of the process is the whole job here, for creative, for feedback, for how people work. This is the same idea, applied to AI. Nobody should be sitting on the one idea that saves the whole team a day a week because they're worried about what it means for them."

Willis said the response in the four days since the offer went out had already surprised him.

"In four days, I've had more ideas land on my desk than in the last four months. We're now looking at building our own custom software across the business, not just for one team. Scaffolding that lets our creatives spend more time being creative, tools for client service, and dashboards for our own internal finance reporting. That's four days. I don't know what happens by day forty."
